Students Perform in Spotlight Showcase

Summer Academy Enrollment Now Open

Enrollment is now underway for the Merced City School District Summer Academy, which will run from June 18-July 13.  This four week enrichment program offers fun, hands-on learning in a variety of subjects, including science, technology, engineering, arts, and math.   Summer Academy is open to all MCSD students who are currently in grades TK-7.  The classes will be held at our new STEAM Center as well as Givens and Sheehy elementary schools.  There is also an online math option for students in grades 5-7, and there is an online foreign language prog...

Students Showcase Science Fair Projects

Merced City School District students showed their creativity, critical thinking ability, and communication skills during the districtwide science fair.  It was held at our new STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, Math) Center on January 19.The competition featured a total of 65 projects from our elementary and middle schools, and many of them aimed to improve the lives of others.  One group of seventh graders from Rivera Middle School created a vibrating steering wheel designed to help alert hearing impaired drivers when emergency vehicles are approaching.  A...

Students Perform During MLK Jr. March

Band students from Hoover and Rivera middle schools, as well as several MCSD elementary schools, performed during the annual Martin Luther King Junior Day march on Monday, January 15.  They were under the direction of Ms. Cynthia Toupin, Mr. Dan Kalantarian, and Mr. David Hofland.  The group began near the Merced County Fairgrounds and walked to the historic Merced Theatre while playing "We Shall Overcome."    Hundreds of other community members also participated in the march, including Merced City School District Associate Superintendent Mr. Doug C...
